510-500 B.C – Red figure Belly Amphora
Arming of Hector. Attributed to the vase-painter Euthymides. Hector is shown donning his armor before combat. He is watched by Priam and Hecuba. Hector is trying to put on the armor thorax over his short himation.By his feet lies his shield. On the right, Hecuba holding the spear and the helmet. Priam, on the left, in his long himation, holding a walking-cane and advising Hector, with his arm slightly raised. Priam’s old age is shown by his baldness, his thin beard and mustache
On side A the following inscriptions are seen: EUTHYMIDES EPOESEN, HECTOR and HECUBA.
